I believe decorating your home can change your life. It's all a matter of putting things in that "right place". This has been my passion since I was a little girl.
For over 20 years my official employment was in the commercial property & casualty insurance business. As an insurance agent, I worked with all kinds of businesses from small retail stores, churches, auto garages and contractors to large professional companies. I helped these people protect their assets for businesses they had worked hard to build.
In addition to my work, I kept up with my passion - "setting up" houses for family and friends. Then I put my passion to the test as I remodeled an old house in Alamo Heights (San Antonio). Being short on cash, I did most of the work myself. This allowed me the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with painting, tile work, wood floor refinishing and more. The passion survived.
So I fed it. I attended design classes in San Antonio and at the University of Texas in Austin, completing extensive studies in decorating techniques and styles. On November 13, 2004, I completed a self-study course by the Window Coverings Association of America earning the designation of Certified Window Treatment Consultant.
In 2003 the Lord gave me the vision and guidance I needed to give my decorating passion a permanent outlet. I started my business by completely remodeling an older home in the Western Oaks subdivision. With the support of my wonderful staff and my family, I have five years of experience working with individuals and builders in both the residential and commercial arenas. Now that I have a very good understanding of the industry and have built relationships with the best vendors and contractors in the business, there is no doubt that my studio produces some of the best work in Austin.
People always ask me, “What is the style of design you focus on?” There are design principles that apply to good design, but beyond that I do not conform to anything other than creating spaces that reflect my client’s taste, are aesthetic, tasteful and livable. By working with what a client already has, I am able to combine things they love, or that have sentimental value, with special decorator touches that add to their beauty.
I encourage my clients to consider quality items. They do not necessarily have to be the most expensive items, but items of quality will stand the test of time and end up being a better buy. I would rather see a few quality accessories that make a statement rather than a lot of clutter.
Much of my decorating inspiration has come from Christopher Lowell and Candice Olsen. These designers have the ability to take what a client has and create classy, inviting spaces regardless of the style. I also personally love rooms created by Linda Applewhite. She is gifted with the ability to boldly mix color and pattern in a way that works fabulously.
I take true delight in helping make people feel at home and happy in their environment. I believe that the way a home's color flows and how the space feels can change a person's whole outlook as well as add to their quality of life. So, partner with the terrific staff at Robin Bond Interiors, and we will create a life-changing environment for you.
