Style Search – Local Artist, Pamela Johnson

Posted on May 2, 2012 by admin

Hello, my name is Erin! I am an Interior Designer and the newest member to Robin Bond Interiors. Thank you for visiting our site! I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself as well as share a well-known Texas artist.

While I have started working with Robin Bond Interiors, I have had the great pleasure of meeting many delightful people. One of these individuals is Carol Meyer, the owner of FASTFRAME & The Westlake Gallery. Carol is absolutely lovely!

This Thursday, May 3rd, Carol is hosting an Artist Reception to showcase work by the local artist Pamela Johnson.  After moving to, Pamela founded Westbank Gallery in 1991 where she began as a storefront gallery showcasing Texas artists. Westbank Gallery now serves as a ‘highly successful art resource, art design planning and consulting service working on site for corporate customers.’

‘I am a mixed media artist, and some of my favorite mediums are collages and paintings based on regional imagery. I am also a student of history, and I was very inspired after traveling to Europe and the Middle East by the mosaic work I saw there, which has lead me to begin work in this medium. I also paint in oil, pastel, watercolor and acrylic. I have a diverse body of work including contemporary abstracts, classically inspired paintings, landscapes, photography, ceramics and sculpture. I like to frequently change up my approach to art.’ I am currently working on a series of contemporary paintings based on my travels down the western coast of Mexico, Italy, Greece and Turkey. I am dedicated to the idea that art helps heal and restore the body and the soul.’ –Pamela Johnson-

I hope to see you at the reception!

Quest for Quality – Facts about Fabrics and Draperies

Posted on February 23, 2012 by admin

It is true that all of the fabrics may come from the same mill, but the quality of the goods may vary. Many fabrics are sold in bulk as “seconds” and have no consistency in the dye lot (color distribution), the finish, or the sizing (stability of the yarns). Fabrics that are purchased through Robin Bond Interiors are first quality and can be replaced if flaws are discovered. Additional goods are available and the supplies will match the dye lot as close as possible. In all cases the mills can discontinue a fabric at any time without notice. The quality of the yardage is then at the mercy of current inventory.
Most custom draperies are made with a 2½ to 1 fullness factor for medium weight fabrics and 3 to 1 fullness for lightweight or sheer fabrics. It is this fullness that distinguishes the custom over the ready-made.
Custom draperies carry double bottom hems. This ensures better draping and a better finish. They should be lined with a quality lining fabric. Lining makes the treatment hang better, gives insulation, uniformity to the street side, and quadruples the life of the treatment.
Turn around time on custom drapery is normally 6 to 8 weeks. A quality drapery is like fine wine – it cannot be rushed – it takes time.

We are looking for a passionate Interior Designer to add to our team!

Posted on January 31, 2012 by admin

Do you prefer to work with a team rather than alone?  If you are a creative Interior Designer who is motivated, but you dread the hassle, stress and time of running a business, then working through our firm would be a great opportunity for you.

Many job positions in the Interior Design Field involve sitting behind a desk doing CAD all day or working set hours in a showroom.  Our firm offers an alternative to working this type of job and/or having your own business.  The position with our firm gives you the flexibility of working with clients and working a variety of projects.

Perhaps you are currently in business for yourself because you did not want to punch a clock, but you find yourself working all of the time.  You may find yourself putting every dime back into your business rather than into your pocket?  You have probably also realized you spend hours on the never ending paperwork.  By working through our firm, you will be able to avoid the large overhead and time it takes to start and run a design business.

We are an Interior Design Firm specializing in industry soft goods and residential design.  We have done some boutique commercial projects.  Here are the details:

  1. We are currently a home based business, but are growing and have a big vision to expand
  2. We are offering business systems, administrative support, no overhead, no risk
  3. Great staff to process your paperwork so you can do what you do best…design!
  4. Eight years of branding in the Austin area
  5. Small base salary with a favorable commission structure and plenty of earning opportunity
  6. We have marketing systems in place to stay in touch with our warm market
  7. We are very active with social media and would set up and handle social media outlets for you

What we are looking for:

  1. Someone who is talented in Interior Design
  2. Someone who loves people and sales
  3. Someone who already has some existing clients or a large sphere of influence to easily obtain clients.  We need someone who can hit the ground running with sales.
  4. Someone with a Design Degree or experience in the Design Field
  5. A Rainmaker – Our firm has a vision to build to a $1,000,000 plus in revenue.  We are looking for someone who is motivated and loves to work in business development and sales.  We are bringing on a new Designer for the sole purpose of growing our business.  This is not a position where you will be handed a lot of leads.  We are looking for someone to generate leads and business.
  6. Someone who has the flexibility to start out working 30 hours a week to build a client base into a 40 hour a week position.
  7. This is a sales position.  We are looking for an Interior Designer who is capable of generating his or her own leads.  Very few leads will be provided.  If you enjoy networking, meeting people and closing sales then this is the perfect position for you.

To apply, please send your resume and portfolio to barbara@robinbondinteriors.com
