Top Trends of 2018: Kitchen & Bath

TUXEDO CABINETS

Most of you already know that I am a huge black and white fan. The all white kitchen has been popular for several years now, but I am in love with this new spin of adding black cabinets. This is the tuxedo look that started last year where the wall cabinets are white and the base cabinets black. I am seeing more and more black cabinets pop up in both kitchens and bathrooms.

NATURAL LIGHT

I am currently working on a lovely home with Jenkins custom homes that is still in the construction phase where we have windows with hanging mirrors behind the master bathroom vanity. Natural light is so wonderful in bathrooms when it comes to putting on makeup.

WARM COLORS & THICK COUNTERS

I am honestly glad to see some warm colors trending back in since not all of my clients are fans of gray. Another trend I love is the thick waterfall counter top pictured in this kitchen.

STAND-ALONE TUBS

Stand alone tubs are becoming more and more popular lately, yet some people are still electing to take remove the tubs from their master bathroom. I hate this trend. A master bathroom is not complete to me unless it has both a shower and a separate stand-alone tub. To me this layout speaks to relaxation and luxury. A shower is more jump in and jump out. Personally, I am a huge fan of bubble baths for soaking to de-stress or to relax sore muscles after working out.

I am going to make one of my predictions that tubs will come back into popularity and so do not remove the tub in your master bathroom. If you want to take them out of any extra bathrooms then so be it. Just keep the tub in the master, and maybe even force
yourself to slow down and take a nice relaxing bath. The whole darn world is moving too fast anyway.
